Session 7: Be online!
“Whether you meet someone offline or online, e-mail and other forms of online communication now play host to some of the most crucial interactions in the early stages of a relationship.”- Amanda Lenhart
Friendship is one of the most complex things we do as human beings, and yet it’s not something we’re taught at school. Befriend are running a series of events to explore the art and science of friendship so that you can learn how to make new friends or deepen your existing relationships.
If you’ve ever pondered the following questions, then this series is for you!
In Session Seven of the series, you’ll learn how websites and apps can be used to sweeten your social life. We’ll show you how you can find local groups and events that match your interests and explain all the different ways you can stay in touch with friends. We’ll explain what the expectations are for different online communication platforms and you’ll have all of your questions about online safety answered. This is a hands-on event – bring along your smart device (e.g. an iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet) to use during the session. WiFi access will be available.
What to expect: At the session, you can expect to meet people who, like you, want to learn about friendship and make new friends. You’ll take away some tips and tricks that you can incorporate into your life to help you make new friends or deepen your existing relationships and who knows, this might just be the place where a new friendship starts!
